A more economically and physically integrated single market in energy could result in efficiency gains of at least 50 billion euro. This figure takes into consideration both the European Parliament’s own assessment of the situation in four specific areas of the market – amounting to a minimum gain of 15 billion euro – and a series of estimates from other sources detailed below.
