The services sector accounts for more than 70% of GDP in the EU and in other developed economies, as well as for a substantial share of GDP in emerging economies, such as China (46%), India (57%) and Turkey (64%). In the EU, retail, transport accommodation and food services as well as public administration, defence, education health and social work make up the biggest share of economic activity within the services sector.
