The strongest support for increased EU involvement in security and defence is recorded in Cyprus (92 %), Romania (80 %) and Spain (78 %).The weakest support for increased EU action in security and defence policy is registered in Denmark (50 %) and Austria (51 %). However, the dynamics of public support have been very different in both countries. In Denmark, the increase in the share of citizens who want more EU intervention has been one of the largest – a 10 percentage point increase, which is surpassed only by Germany with its 13 percentage point increase. At the other extreme, Austria shows one of the most significant drops in public support – a 10 percentage point decrease, only surpassed by Italy with an 11 percentage point decrease.
