The most recent Europe-wide figures on violence against women82 indicate that 33 per cent of women have experienced physical and/or sexual violence at some time since the age of 15. It an EU policy framework in this area were to reduce violence by only 10 per cent, the direct economic costs for the economy could be reduced by approximately 7.0 billion euro per year.
