The EU is the world’s largest trader in commercial services. According to Eurostat, services exports grew between 2012 and 2013 by 3.4% for the EU as a whole, and by 5.5% for the euro area. Overall, EU international trade in services has witnessed substantial growth over the past decade. EU services exports to the rest of the world increased from €367 billion in 2004 to €684 billion in 2013, while imports rose from €321 billion to €511 billion.
