Nevertheless, the EU acted swiftly to identify and reallocate funding from the current EU budget, redirecting programme funds and additional budgetary support to fight the pandemic and mitigate its impact. The overall EU budget coronavirus package, including the resources provided either as grants directly from the EU budget or as an EU guarantee to financial institutions, stands at €67.3 billion, while an additional amount of €29.9 billion could possibly further help mitigate the consequences of the coronavirus outbreak if fully reoriented towards this objective
