The European Commission had a total of 32 791 staff in October 2020, of whom 42.8 % were administrators, 26.4 % assistants, 22.7 % contractual agents, and 8.2 % ‘other’ (special advisers, local staff and staff under national law). The bar chart shows the breakdown by gender. It can be seen that 23.5 % of the total staff are male administrators, while 18.2 % are female assistants
