Many people think that archives are all about dust and old papers. At the Historical Archives of the European Parliament things are a little different.
The Historical Archives of the EP manage and preserve official documents and other archival material which reflect the history and activities of the Parliament, dating back to 1952.
The Archives contain not only original documents, but also digitalised records, pictures, posters, audio records of committee activities (minutes and summaries of meetings, parliamentary reports) illustrating the interinstitutional role of the EP. (see more)
This wide range of historical archives is available to the public, in accordance with EC Regulation 1049/2001, and can be requested via e-mail (please write to arch-info@europarl.europa.eu), or by making a study visit to our Luxembourg premises.
What can citizens expect from the Archives?
- Answers to documentary requests by email or phone
- Historical studies on EU events
- Filmed interviews with former Presidents and Secretaries-General of the Parliament
- Events, such as exhibitions, open days, group visits, information sessions.
