This paper aims to show levels of trade between the EU and the ASEAN countries – Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Burma/Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

It looks at their trade in both goods and services with the EU, China and the NAFTA countries (USA, Canada and Mexico), to measure the importance of EU trade for the ASEAN countries, and how important they are for the EU. It also looks at foreign direct investment (FDI) in the selected countries by EU entities, and by their firms in the EU.

Two indexes are presented to give an overall view of the ease of trade and the corruption perceived in those countries.
